obert and I finally weeded and got the beds in the orchard planted with lettuce and corn. We even mulched the beds with the compost we have been cooking for nearly a year. Some of the bigger pieces of straw still haven't decomposed, I think I need an 800 hp grinder to make mincemeat of the straw before it goes into the pile. Like that will ever happen. Now all we have to do is keep it watered. Amazingly it seems that Myrtle has no interest in scratching around in the beds, so for now, I don't have to rig anything to keep her out. I can't believe she is still alive [read:What's wrong with Myrtle here].
Looking forward to a bountiful harvest!
