I am ducky sitting! My sister has entrusted me with these amazing little creatures, her beloved duckies, while she is away on vacation. This will be good experience for me, as I want to raise egg laying chickens. So far so good even though my cats have already tried to stalk them, but to no avail. I mean let's face it, the ducks are much larger than they are especially when their wings are out stretched to their full span. And Rocket is a very good mate and protector of his girl Jack, while the cats are around, that is so cute! And I keep an eye on them too, waiting to see them get their furry butts kicked by a ticked off water fowl - that should be amusing. Still, I hope they are smart enough to know to stay away from them.
All and all, I am looking forward to taking care of them, and observing their ducky antics, according to my sister and her man, they have their own personalities, and I see that already, it is really so amazing. Rocket is a pool hog, while Jack dominates the food chain. Earlier this morning, to my surprise, Rocket actually shared the pool with Jack - mom would've been so proud. Too bad I didn't get any hard evidence of this unusual event, you see, my camera taking instincts are not very well developed. Many times in my life I have missed golden opportunities, that leave me thinking to myself after the "Kodak moment" passes, "Wow, that would have been a great picture!"
It will be a challenge for me this coming week to make sure I have my camera at the ready, to hopefully capture some cute ducky moments for posterity, and to send them to my separation anxiety sister. Right now they are resting quietly under the Apricot tree, so cute.
