The flowers that make it to this list are the ones that my husband and I will be planting, or would like to acquire and to plant on the Zubiate homestead. These flowers are not only beautiful, but they're useful too, meaning that they can be used as food. That is the whole concept behind cottage gardens and homesteading, right? But before you eat any blossom, berry, leaf, root, or seed, please make sure they are indeed edible. Also, not ever edible flower actually tastes good, and so while some may not make it to the dinner table, some might be better suited for the cosmetic table or medicine cabinet. I'm not a botanist, so I will classify the flowers by color, it seems easier for me, and my son Kyle, who loves color, would approve.
DISCLAIMER: Don't eat any bloom, leaf, berry, root, or seed unless you are absolutely positively sure that it is not poisonous; there are "look-a-likes" out there, and like all edibles, some people may have allergies to some flowers while others don't.
