THE NUMBERS ARE IN!
It's been quite a year for the girls of Le Chalet Poulet and after a year's worth of carefully collecting and documenting the eggs, a job performed by my son Kyle, the year's egg tally has been counted and here are the results!
Amazingly, Buttercup started out her egg laying career as being somewhat of a dud. I even considered renaming her "Butterdud." This year she came in second place, again, thanks in part to Daisy's untimely demise. She finished this year at exactly 200 eggs. Well done Miss Buttercup! I hope this coming year will be just as productive, if not more so. |
Blossom, Blossom, Blossom. This poor little hen has the dubious distinction of being the dud of the year. What a sad showing, at 135 eggs. But not to worry, I have an idea that might help this beautiful hen increase her egg laying capacity. I intended to start giving all of the hens a special kind of feed, well, more like a special concoction known as fermented feed. I will see if all of the hullabaloo is worth the effort. |
Over all, we collected 949 eggs this year, one shy of 950-- oh well. I look forward to a new year with my girls, and I even added to the flock in order to increase my egg production, but that is another story!
